Os noruegueses do Ragnarok se preparam para mais uma turnê pelo Brasil, desta vez ao lado do Belphegor, que também está de volta ao país após dois anos. A turnê sul-americana desta vez será mais extensa, para alegria dos fãs de Black Metal abrangerá mais estados além dos tradicionais que compõe o circuito São Paulo/Rio de Janeiro.
Até o momento já estão confirmadas as seguintes datas no mês de Setembro: Belém/PA (02/09), Fortaleza/CE (03/09), Salvador/BA (04/09), Curitiba/PR (06/09), Porto Alegre/RS (07/09), Goiânia/GO (08/09), Rio de Janeiro/RJ (09/09), Belo Horizonte/MG (10/09) e São Paulo/SP (11/09).
As duas últimas contando também com a participação do Morbid Angel.
O Ragnarok é atualmente formado por Jontho Panthera (Bateria), DezeptiCunt (Baixo), HansFyrste (Vocal) e Bolverk (Guitarra).
Para falar um pouco sobre essa recente turnê dentre outras coisas, o Metal Revolution conversou com o baixista DezeptiCunt, do Ragnarok, sobre suas expectativas e mais algumas coisas como vocês podem conferir na entrevista abaixo.
Metal Revolution - Essa é a segunda vez que você vem ao Brasil, à primeira foi no ano passado, em novembro, onde vocês se apresentaram ao lado do Vader. Quais lembranças você tem da última vez em que esteve aqui?
DezeptiCunt - Brasil foi ótimo e exótico em muitas formas. É um privilégio para nós podermos tocar longe de casa. Ver os fãs ficarem loucos em um diferente continente nos enche de admiração. Ficamos verdadeiramente honrados pela admiração dos fãs e isso nos deixou mais famintos para voltar esse ano.
MR - A turnê sulamericana deste ano será mais extensa, vocês irão tocar em locais que normalmente as bandas internacionais não tocam como o norte do país, para os fãs de música extrema, esse será um grande presente. Quais suas expectativas para essas apresentações?
DezeptiCunt - Como eu não sou conheço esses lugares, eu realmente não sei o que esperar, mas se eles são apenas tão hard ‘n’ heavy como seus irmãos no Sul, espero que eles fiquem loucos e nos mostrem do que metalheads brasileiros são feitos!
MR - A primeira parte da turnê brasileira será feita pelo Ragnarok e Belphegor, vocês já se conheciam antes de tocarem juntos por aqui? Os dois últimos shows contam com a presença de mais um nome de peso dentro do Metal mundial, o Morbid Angel, e o último será no maior festival de música extrema que temos no país, o Setembro Negro. Ansioso para esse que será senão o maior show dessa turnê?
DezeptiCunt - Nós nunca tocamos com Belphegor antes, mas estamos ansiosos para a turnê com eles e juntos temos um grande poder de destruição. As pessoas que forem ao nosso show terão uma sólida dose de Black Metal de ambas as bandas, terá sangue, adoração ao Satan, cerveja e headbanging! E nós também tocaremos uma música nova do novo albúm, então fiquem atentos!
Sobre Setembro Negro, estamos muito ansiosos. É uma verdadeira honra dividir o palco com o Morbid Angel, uma verdadeira lenda do death metal. Eles são a minha banda favorita dentre todos os generos do Heavy Metal e são uma grande inspiração na minha carreira. Recentemente, assisti ao show deles em Copenhague e verei eles novamente no Wacken Festival. Posso assegurar aos fãs brasileiros, vocês tem algo para ficarem ansiosos! “Scream for more, nevermore, nevermoooore!!!”
MR - Apesar da Noruega ser conhecida como o reduto de bandas de Black Metal mundiais, existem muitas que vem de outras partes do mundo. O que você tem ouvido recentemente?
DezeptiCunt - Honestamente, eu não tenho escutado muito black metal. Não existem muitas boas bandas atualmente, mas, por outro lado, ouço diferentes gêneros para ter inspiração. Isso não é dado a músicos Black Metal ouviam só Black Metal. Uma das minhas recentes descobertas é a banda suíça Sybreed. Estou viciado nesses caras. Outras que eu ouço são Opeth, Ulver, DHG (Dødheimsgard), The Faceless, Thule (progrock noruegues).
MR - Você conhece alguma banda brasileira de Black Metal ou de algum outro gênero extremo? Mas você não pode me responder o Nervo Chaos, porque eu sei que vocês estavam juntos em turnê pela Europa no começo deste ano. (risos)
DezeptiCunt - Bem, ninguém que nunca tenha ouvido sobre Sepultura não é intitulado pra chamar a si mesmo de metalhead! Krisiun é também uma que vale ser mencionada, Torture Squad, Sarcófago e Angra. Tenho que admitir que não conheço mais bandas.
MR - Por sinal, como foi à turnê europeia? Como foi a recepção dos fãs por lá? Sabendo que o Ragnarok ainda trabalha com seu último cd, Collectors Of The King.
DezeptiCunt - A turnê europeia com Nervo Chaos foi ótima! Foi uma turnê exaustiva, sem folgas, 31 dias seguidos. Não tivemos grandes problemas, exceto um cancelamento na Bélgica. Quando tocamos todos os dias, nós não esperamos lugares cheios às segundas-feiras, terças-feiras e quartas-feiras são sempre difícieis, mas ainda tiveram sempre algumas pessoas assistindo. Nossa impressão é que o público ficou muito satisfeito e esperando pelo nosso retorno no próximo ano.
MR - Falando em Collectors Of The King, último e mais recente trabalho de vocês em estúdio, que foi lançado em 2009. Como anda o processo de composição? Já existem algumas músicas finalizadas?
DezeptiCunt - A turnê sulamericana será nossa última com esse álbum. Se queremos estar no topo, precisamos lançar um álbum novo e continuar excursionando. Nós já temos prontos os esboços desse novo álbum e já começamos a ensaiar algumas novas músicas. O processo é muito simples: o guitarrista traz a ideia e trabalha com o baterista para fazer a música mais completa. Então, eu me junto para ensaiar e nós fazemos alguns ajustes finais. Os vocais serão arranjados bem no final do processo e ajustes menores serão feitos durante as gravações no estúdio.
MR - Nós podemos esperar por algo semelhante ao Collectors Of The King, ou mais pesado, levando em consideração que o line up permanece o mesmo?
DezeptiCunt - O line up tem mudado desde a última gravação e o som será levemente diferente. O novo álbum ainda soará como Ragnarok, mas nós teremos uma abordagem diferente dessa vez. É ainda um pouco cedo para dizer como será desde que nós estamos no começo do processo, mas nós temos pegado influencias dos álbuns anteriores. Como isso ficará, será uma surpresa para os fãs.
MR - Há previsão para o lançamento desse sétimo álbum do Ragnarok?
DezeptiCunt - Nós esperamos lançar o novo álbum no começo de 2012.
MR - Ainda falando sobre o processo de composição. Normalmente quem se encarrega disso dentro da banda? Todos contribuem ou já existe uma pré-divisão?
DezeptiCunt - Como eu mencionei, o guitarrista é o principal compositor. Eu tenho minhas idéias, mas eu estou mais dentro dos arranjos musicais e dos vocais. Depois fazendo os arranjos, a música ganha forma com a bateria e acertos durante o ensaio. De um modo, nós fazemos as músicas juntos.
MR - Eu sei que você tem outros projetos paralelos além do Ragnarok como banda principal. Eu gostaria que você falasse um pouco sobre essas outras bandas, em especial a Nebular Mystic, a qual você tem se dedicado mais ultimamente.
DezeptiCunt - Está certo, eu tenho muitas bandas realmente (risos)! Você está certa sobre Nebular Mystic. Nós temos passado por alguns problemas com o lineup e nós tínhamos um show no primeiro final de semana de Julho. Então, para fazê-lo, contratamos o baterista da Nocturnal Breed para esse show. Além disso, estamos escrevendo novas músicas e tentando achar um baterista novo para se juntar a banda.
Eu também tenho outras bandas que estão paradas esses dias. O guitarrista da minha banda de progmetal Fragment machucou o braço no meio da gravação do nosso primeiro álbum. Merdas acontecem, então precisamos esperar ele ficar melhor. Vidsyn é uma outra banda que estou tocando, nós trabalharemos com novas músicas e gravaremos no final desse ano, eu espero. O mesmo com Quadrivium, durante outono/inverno o álbum será gravado. Existem mais alguns projetos nos quais eu estou trabalhando e minha banda tributo do Iron Maiden é algo que eu vou precisar de mais tempo.
MR - Para encerrar eu gostaria de agradecer você e pedir para que deixe um recado para os fãs brasileiros, que logo mais poderão conferir o Ragnarok no palco.
DezeptiCunt - Seja verdadeiro com você mesmo, coloque seus demônios para fora e o mundo é seu. Mantenha o fogo aceso.

Metal Revolution - This is the second time you come to Brazil; the first time was last year in November, where you showed up next to Vader. What memories do you have from the last time you were here?
DezeptiCunt -Brazil was great and exotic in many ways; it is a privilege for us to be able to play this far from home. To see the fans go crazy in a different continent fills us with awe, we were truly appreciated by the fans. This touched us in a profound way, made us even more hungry to come back this year.
MR – The South American tour this year will be more extensive, you will playin places that normally do not play international bands such as the north,for fans of extreme music, and this is a great gift. What are your expectations for these presentations?
DezeptiCunt - As I`m not familiar with these places I don`t really know what to expect, but if they are just as hard `n heavy as their brothers in the south, I expect them to get crazy and show us what brazilian metalheads are made of!
MR - The first part of the brazilian tour will be made by Ragnarok and Belphegor; you've met before playing together here? The last two shows count with the presence one of more heavy names within the metal world, Morbid Angel, and the last will be in the biggest festival of extreme music we have in the country, the Setembro Negro [NR: Black September]. Looking forward to this that will be the biggest show of this tour?
DezeptiCunt - We have never played with Belphegor before, but we are looking foreward to tour with them and together we are a strong package. People attending our shows will get a solid dose of black metal from both bands, there will be blood, satan worship, beer and headbanging! We will also play a brand new song from the upcoming album, so stay tuned!
About Setembro Negro we are very eager to perform, it is a true honour to share the stage with the grandfathers of deathmetal, namely Morbid Angel. They have been my all time favorites in the genre and have been a great inspiration for me troughout the years. I recently watched their show in Copenhagen and will see them again at the Wacken Festival, and I can assure the brazilian fans, you have something to look foreward to! Scream for more, nevermore, nevermoooore!!!
MR - Although Norway is known as the stronghold of black metal bands worldwide, there are many who come from other parts of the world. What have you listened to recently?
DezeptiCunt - To be honest I don`t listen much to black metal anymore. There aren`t many good bands out there these days, but on the other hand I need to listen to different genres to get inspiration. It is not a given that black metal musicians listened only to black metal, so it might come as a shock to many that I listen to softer music. One of my recent discoveries is the swiss band Sybreed and I have become addicted. Other than that I listen to Opeth, Ulver, DHG (Dødheimsgard), The Faceless, Thule (norwegian progrock).
MR - Do you know any Brazilian Black Metal band or some other extreme genre? But you cannot answer me the Nervo Chaos, because I know you guys are together on tour in Europe earlier this year. (Laughs)
DezeptiCunt - Well, anybody that didn`t hear about Sepultura is not entitled to call themselves a metalhead! Krisiun is also worth mentioning, Torture Squad, Sarcofago and Angra. Other than that I have to admit I don`t know more bands.
MR - By the way, how was the European tour? How was the reception by the fans there? Knowing Ragnarok still works with your last album, Collectors Of The King.
DezeptiCunt - The European tour with Nervo Chaos was great! It was an exhausting tour with no days off, 31 days in a row. We didn’t run into major problems, except one cancellation in Belgium. When we play every day we don’t expect all venues to be packed, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are always hard, but still there were always some people attending. Our impression is that the audience was very satisfied and are awaiting our return next year.
MR - Talking about Collectors Of The King, the last and more recently studio album of you that was released in 2010. How is the composition process? There are already some songs finished?
DezeptiCunt - The South American tour will be our last tour with this album. If we want to be on top of things, we need to release a new album and continue touring to promote Ragnarok. We have already made the sketches for the new album, and have started to rehearse some of the new songs. The process is quite simple; the guitar player makes a sketch and works with the drummer to make the song more complete. Then I team up to rehearse and we make some final adjustments. The vocals will be arranged in the very end of the process, and minor adjustments will be done while recording in the studio.
MR - Can we expect something similar to Collectors Of The King, or something heavier, considering which the lineup keeps the same?
DezeptiCunt - The lineup has changed since the last recording and the sound will be slightly different. The new album will still sound like Ragnarok, but we will have a different approach this time. It is a bit early to say how this will turn out since we are in the middle of the process, but we have picked up influences from the earlier albums. How this turns out, will be a surprise for the fans!
MR - There are forecast for the launch of the seventh album from Ragnarok?
DezeptiCunt - We expect to release the new album early 2012.
MR - Still talking about the composition process. Who normally do this within the band? Everybody contributes or there is a pre-division?
Decepticunt - As earlier mentioned, the guitar player is the main song writer. I have ideas myself but I`m more into arranging the songs and the vocals. After making the mock up, the song takes form with the drums and the arrangement during rehearsal. So in a way, we make the songs together.
MR - I know that you have other parallel projects beyond Ragnarok as main band. I would like you talk a bit about these other bands, specially Nebular Mystic, which you have been dedicated more lately.
DezeptiCunt - That`s right, I have too many bands really, haha! You are right about Nebular Mystic, we have had some problems with the lineup and we had a gig the first weekend of July. So in order to make it we hired the drummer from Nocturnal Breed for this one concert. Other than that, we are writing new songs and trying to get a new drummer to join the band.
I also have other bands which is dormant these days. The guitar player of my progmetal band Fragment has injured his arm, in the middle of recording our debut album. Shit happens so we need to wait for him in order to get better. Vidsyn is another band I`m playing in, we will work with the new songs and record by the end of this year I hope. The same with Quadrivium, during the autumn/winter the album will be recorded. There`s a few more projects I`m working with, and my Iron Maiden tribute band is something I will use more time on.
MR - To finish I would like to say thank you and ask you to leave a message to the Brazilian fans, that very soon can check out Ragnarok on stage.
