Lord Ahriman: Nesse exato momento, estou ouvindo “Don’t Break The Oath”, do Mercyful Fate.

E ofereceremos a vocês o mais pecaminoso e potente show do Dark Funeral!

ENGLISH VERSION

Portal do Inferno: You were here for the last time in 2006. Why did you take so long to return? What do you remember from your last visit to Brazil?

Lord Ahriman: Yeah! It certainly has been way too long since our last visit to Brazil, but I can assure you from now on we will do our very best to come back more often! The Brazilian audiences have always showed us such an amazing support. And it's always a great pleasure to play there. So we'll do what we can from our side to tour there more often!

P.I.: The South American Tour will be longer this time; in Brazil seven dates have been confirmed until now. What do you expect of these shows?

Lord Ahriman: Yeah, all in all the tour will last approximately one month, which is killer! It seems like the interest for us in Brazil, but also everywhere else in Latin America has grown a lot since the last time we were there. Unfortunately, we won't be able to visit all Latin American countries that are waiting to see Dark Funeral on this tour, but we'll do our best and try to include them the next time we come! With our previous tour still fresh in my mind, I'm totally looking forward to the pure chaos and mayhem only the Latin Americans can bring on! We´re ready, are you?!

P.I.: You were also recently confirmed to compose the team of 40 bands on the cruise 70,000 Tons of Metal. A completely different experience than the traditional European festivals. Are you looking forward to this event?

Lord Ahriman: Without a doubt! Even though it's not the first time we play a cruise ship, the 70,000 Tons of Metal is something truly special. And we are truly honored to have been invited to play this amazing and spectacular event! Can't wait!

P.I.: “Satanic war tour – The Return” composes a kind of trilogy created by the band that in the years 1997-1998 toured with the “Satanic War Tour I and II”, what is the meaning of this trilogy for the band? And what is it´s importance?

Lord Ahriman: To bring the "Satanic War Tour" tag back to life, is a way for us to show what kind of dark spirit the fans can expect from us now and in the future. We also want to give back what the fans gave us since the very first days of Dark Funeral. It's a tribute to the past, present and future!

P.I.: The formation of the band has been through some constant changes. You recently announced Zornheym as the new bass player and Nachtgarm (Negator) as the new vocalist. How was the selection process of the new members? And how are they adapting in the band?

Lord Ahriman: They are adopting real well. After a few months of intense rehearsals it feels like we are tighter and sound better than ever before. And for the first time in ages, I feel that every single member of Dark Funeral is sharing a tremendously strong commitment, an absolute dedication as well as utter professionalism. And I have no doubt that what is to come will prove be the strongest and most sinful Dark Funeral ever.

P.I.: "Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus" is the latest studio album from Dark Funeral since 2009 and is considered the band's best work so far. Are you currently working on new songs for a new studio album?

Lord Ahriman: Sure, but right now we focus completely to be – and to keep ourselves – in an absolute killer shape. Both physically and concerning the live performance with regard to the intense touring we have ahead of us. But new material is always lurking there in the back of my head, so we'll see when I/we have the time, and/or get in the right spirit to resume the writings. We have also left Regain Records. And at this point in time, we have not signed to a new label, so that's something that has to be sorted out first, before a new release can see the light of day.

P.I.: How does the composition process usually works with the Dark Funeral albums?

Lord Ahriman: Usually I start writing and working on new music on my own. And when I have at least parts of a song ready, I bring in the other guys for input and so forth. Now with the new line-up we'll be working a bit different than before, but I do believe it will prove to be successful!

P.I.: The cover art of "Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus" was and still is very commented on. Who is responsible for the art choice? And how do you relate the art with the album itself?

Lord Ahriman: The cover artwork was created by an Italian artist called "Morbid". The origin is an idea I had myself. It's also a continuation of series of artworks we have used for the past couple of albums, "Diabolis Interium”, “Attera Totus Sanctus” and “Angelus Exuro pro Eternus”.

P.I.: Black Metal bands are always involved in big polemics, especially when the subject is religion. Somehow society always criticizes the albums, cover arts or some actions from these band´s members. Recently Nergal from Behemoth was acquitted in his country, Poland, after being indicted for ripping a bible on stage. Why do you think this happens until today?

Lord Ahriman: Unfortunately, music and art have always been a scapegoat and an easy target by various religious organizations. Poland has this insane and strict catholic cult that is basically trying to forbid pretty much everything, incl. free speech as well as extreme Metal among many other things. And unfortunately Behemoth, Dark Funeral and many other bands have been targeted by these retards. And as far as I am concerned, the Polish court has made it clear that their insane accusations are nothing but total nonsense. Still, it's of course a major hassle, as a band and artist to be harassed and persecuted by these imbeciles.

P.I.: Even Dark Funeral has been involved in some situations like that in the past. How did you deal with it?

Lord Ahriman: As long as it doesn't hinder us in anyway to perform or so it doesn't really affect me at all. Although I can admit it gives me some great amusement to see these morons wasting their time and energy on Dark Funeral.

P.I.: In a past interview, you once told us that you consider Wolfen Society as a band and not just a project. Is it still active? And do you believe that having other bands and/or projects is a way to develop yourself as a musician showing other sounds besides those already known from your main band?

Lord Ahriman: I really can't remember that I've ever said that. However, if I should have said that, it was a mistake. As you know, all of us are very active with our main bands, so Wolfen Society is a side project, alright. Wolfen Society are in a sort of sleeping mode at the moment I guess, but I sure hope to be able to catch up with the guys one day and create a new masterpiece, no doubt. Let's see what the future holds in for the wolf pack...

P.I.: And what have you been listening to recently?

Lord Ahriman: At this very moment I'm listening to Mercyful Fate "Don't Break The Oath". Other than that, Testament, Meshuggha, Behemoth, Mayhem, Halford, Judas Priest among others have been rotating quite frequently in my Ipod.

P.I.: I would like to say thank you for the interview and ask you to leave a message for the Brazilian fans, telling us a bit of what we can expect from Dark Funeral in December.

Lord Ahriman: I'd like to send out a massive HAIL to our Brazilian hordes of demons! We can't wait to tour Brazil again. And I can assure you that we are coming with a whole new and rebooted dark energy. And we will offer you the most sinful and powerful Dark Funeral show ever! Make sure get your ticket early, before they runs out. And let us summon together the darkness and make this tour to the most hellish event this year! See you in December!!!
