Gorgoroth: “Será como eu quero, ou sem chance”.

O Gorgoroth é um dos principais nomes dentro do cenário Black Metal, a banda já passou por diversas mudanças no seu line-up e freqüentemente se vê envolvida em alguma polêmica.

Em 2011 a banda regravou “Under the Sign of Hell”, um álbum clássico do Gorgoroth, cuja versão original é de 1996 e dividiu a opinião de seus fãs. Há cerca de uma semana e prestes a desembarcar no Brasil, o guitarrista Infernus anunciou que a saída do atual vocalista e a vinda de Hoest (Taake, ex-Ragnarok) em seu lugar para mais uma turnê pelo país.

Em entrevista exclusiva ao Metal Revolution, Infernus comenta sobre a saída de Pest, o novo álbum a caminho “Instinctus Bestialis”, além de suas expectativas para a turnê sul-americana.

Metal Revolution: Mais uma vez o Gorgoroth é uma das atracões principais do Setembro Negro Festival. Qual a expectativa de vocês em retornar ao Brasil?
Infernus: Acredito que será mais uma vez muito divertido. Brasil é sempre bom para mim, por isso vou para lá uma ou duas vezes por ano de qualquer forma. O público é bom e estaremos de volta trabalhando com bandas como Autopsy e Keep Of Lalessin, encontrando e saindo com velhos amigos como Edu da Tumba, Cláudio da Somber Music, meu guitarrista de turnê Fábio Zperandio etc. Vai ser uma explosão, tenho certeza!

MR: E quais lembranças vocês tem das edições passadas?
Infernus: A última vez que estive no Brasil foi em fevereiro (RT: deste ano). Fui encontrar amigos e algumas conexões em Pindamonhangaba e São Paulo. Foi divertido como sempre.

MR: Além de tocar por diversas vezes no Brasil, o Gorgoroth tem uma relacão especial com o país. Uma delas é através do músico Fábio Zperandio, que acompanhou a banda na última turnê européia. Por que vocês optaram por um músico brasileiro e não um vindo da Noruega ou Europa em geral?
Infernus: Eu o conheci há muito tempo. Logisticamente falando isso era loucura, buscar outro músico em outro continente, mas eu estava certo mais uma vez. Fábio é habilidoso, e posso contar com ele. Não existem muitas pessoas com quem posso contar, mas ele é uma delas. Ele trabalha duro, se mantém calmo, tem uma mentalidade satânica e se encaixa nisso.

MR: O Gorgoroth deveria fazer uma turnê no mês de maio deste ano, porém a mesma não ocorreu. Segundo uma nota divulgada no site oficial da banda, problemas envolvendo os nomes ASP e Marcus Schreiber teriam sido o principal motivo. O que você pode nos dizer sobre isso?
Infernus: Nada. Foda-se ele e todos aqueles que são tão estúpidos quanto eu em 2012, tentando fazer um acordo com uma pessoa como esta. Isso está condenado.

MR: Existem planos para uma futura turnê européia ainda este ano?
Infernus: Não, faremos apenas 11 datas na América Latina. Eu demiti meu vocalista há dois dias atrás e felizmente tive a tempo a ajuda que precisava mais uma vez. Faremos essa turnê com Hoest, do Taake e manteremos o foco no próximo álbum “Instinctus Bestialis”, que será lançado por uma gravadora não determinada ainda. Em estúdio teremos ajuda do Atterigner do Triumfall nos vocais. Talvez façamos um ou dois shows mais este ano, mas ainda tenho dúvidas sobre isso.

MR: Em 2011 vocês regravaram “Under the Sign of Hell”, um álbum clássico do Gorgoroth de 1996. Porém a nova versão dividiu um pouco a opinião dos fãs. Por que vocês optaram por regravar esse álbum?
Infernus: Porque decidi que queria fazê-lo. Tinha essa idéia me perseguindo por mais de uma década.

MR: E quais têm sido as críticas que você tem ouvido por parte dos fãs e da mídia?
Infernus: Não sei, não estou muito ligado nisso. Acho que sempre existem reclamações. Bom, que seja assim.  Eu não tendo a me desculpar em situações como esta. Curta o álbum como eu faço, ou fique longe dele. Não importa muito.

MR: “Under the Sign of Hell” também teve seu lançamento adiado na época, porque a Ragain Records, então gravadora da banda, já demonstrava sinais de falência. O que veio há acontecer pouco tempo depois.  O Gorgoroth já possui uma nova gravadora?
Infernus: O lançamento foi atrasado por causa dos problemas financeiros da Regain. Como ainda hoje, eles não cobriram os gastos com a produção, eu o fiz. Porém, eles não estão falidos ainda, e Per Gyllenbäck é um antigo amigo meu, ele sempre me ajudou no passado quando precisei. Digo, não estou empurrando-o para muito longe agora, e não encontramos outra gravadora. Hoje em dia nenhuma parceria séria tem mostrado interesse, apenas  dez ou mais congregações de idiotas fizeram, mas eles não contam.

MR: Após lancar “Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt”, em 2009. Há previsão para o lançamento de álbum com material inédito da banda?
Infernus: “Instinctus Bestialis” tem sido feito ao longo de três anos. E será lançado quando eu sentir que estamos prontos para isso.

MR: Durante sua última turnê pela Europa, a “The Sign of Hell Tour 2011”, você e Peste foram presos. O que de fato aconteceu?
Infernus: Quanto a isso não existe verdade, sem comentários.

MR: Após muitos anos de banda, e diversas mudancas no line-up que incluiram até mesmo brigas judiciais em relacão ao Gorgoroth, é muito difícil montar um set list que agrade aos fãs, e ao mesmo tempo respeite as divergências da banda?
Infernus: Sim, sempre haverá algum choro. Então concluí que será como eu quero, ou sem chance. Todos os envolvidos, incluindo o vocalista e o público que devem estar dispostos a lidar com isso. Nosso setlist deve representar o atual momento, esse é o nome do jogo.

MR: Por que você não gosta de ser fotografado, seja ao lado de fãs ou jornalistas, mesmo usando corpse paint?
Infernus: Por que deveria? Não preciso disso. Agradar fotógrafos que querem roubar minha alma? Isso é loucura!

MR: Muito obrigada pela entrevista e eu gostaria que você deixasse um recado para os fãs brasileiros do Gorgoroth.
Infernus: Obrigada pela entrevista! Em cerca de 2-3 semanas estaremos de volta e adoramos essa idéia. Praise Hail Satan!

Gorgoroth: “It is going to be my way or no way”.

Metal Revolution: Gorgoroth will once again be one of the main bands playing at Setembro Negro Festival. What is your expectation about returning to Brazil?
Infernus: I believe it will be lots of fun, again. Brazil is always good to me. That’s why I go there once or twice a year anyway. The crowds are good and we’ll get to be back in front of them co-operating with bands as Autopsy and Keep of Kalessin, meeting and hanging out with old friends as Edu from Tumba, Cláudio of Somber Music, my session guitarist Fábio Zperandio etc etc. Going to be a blast, I am sure!

MR: And what memories do you have from the last visits here?
Infernus:  Last time was in February. I went to meet friends and connections in Pindamonhangaba and São Paulo. Fun, as always.

MR: Except for touring here many times you have developed a special relation to Brazil. On your last European tour you hired Fábio Zperandio as a session member, how was it that you came to use a musician from Brazil and not Norway or Europe for that matter?
Infernus: I knew this guy personally for a long time. Logistically speaking, it was madness seeking another co-operation partner from yet another continent, but I was right again. He is skillful and I can relate to him. There are not that many people I can bear relating to, but he is one of them. He is hard working, he keeps quiet, he’s got a satanist’s mind-set. and he fit in.

MR: Gorgoroth was supposed to tour in May but it was cancelled. On the official website you wrote that you got problems involving ASP and Marcus Schreiber. Can you tell more about this?
Infernus: No. Fuck him, and fuck everyone else who are as stupid as me in 2012 trying to make a deal with a person as that. It’s doomed.

MR: Does Gorgoroth have any plans for touring in Europe this year?
Infernus:  No. we’ll do Latin America, 11 dates. I just fired my vocalist 2,5 days ago, and happily enough I again got help as soon as it was needed. We’ll do this tour with Hoest from Taake and we’ll maintain focus on the upcoming album “Instinctus Bestialis” to be released on a yet to be determined record label. In the studio, we’ll be granted help by Atterigner from Triumfall on vocals. Maybe we’ll do a show or two more this year, but I really doubt so.

MR: In 2011 you re-recorded the classic Gorgoroth album from 1996, “Under the Sign of Hell”. The feedback from the fans has been mixed, why did you decide to re-record this album?
Infernus: I decided so because I wanted to.  I had the idea haunting me for more than a decade.

MR: The release of “Under the Sign of Hell” was postponed due to the bankruptcy of Gorgoroth’s former label, Regain Records. Have you found a new label?
Infernus: It was delayed again and again because of regain’s financial problems. As of today, they still did not cover the costs of the production – I did. Nevertheless, they are still not bankrupt, and Per Gyllenbäck  is an old friend of mine. He helped me out in the past, when I needed it. Meaning I am not pushing him too far now. And, no, we’ve not found another label. As of today, no serious partners have shown their interest, around ten or so congregations of idiots did, but they do not count.

MR: What have the feedback been like for the re-release of “Under the Sign of Hell”?
Infernus: I don’t know. I’m not much tuned into that.

I guess there has been some crying. Great, so be it. I do not tend to excuse myself in situations like this. Enjoy the album as I do, or stay away from it. Doesn’t matter much.

MR: It has been a while since you released “Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt”, do you have any plans of a new release anytime soon?
Infernus: “Instinctus Bestialis” has been in the making for three years. It will be released when I feel we’re ready for it.

MR: During “The Sign of Hell Tour 2011” you and Pest was arrested, what was the reason for this?
Infernus: Insofar there is any truth to this: no comment.

MR: After many releases and line-up changes and even going through legal issues regarding Gorgoroth, is it difficult to make a setlist that pleases the fans but at the same time respect the bands divergences?
Infernus: Yes. There will always be some whining. So I concluded that it is going to be my way or no way. Everyone involved, including the vocalist and the audience must be able to deal with that. Our set-list must feel ok to present. it is the name of the game.

MR: Why don`t you approve being photographed neither by fans nor journalists, even wearing corpse paint?
Infernus: Why should I? I do not need to. Pleasing photographers who want to steal my soul? Madness!
